When I had been referred to Glencoe Family Chiropractic, I had been suffering from terrible shoulder pain for about 5 years. I had tried a local chiropractor for about 6 months with no difference in my pain level. Then I tried my family doctor, she wanted me to try physical therapy. When that didn’t work they tried X-ray’s and MRI’s to see what was going on. The conclusion was degenerative disc in my neck. Basically it was something that I would just have to live with.
I found relief (although short-lived) from a local massage therapist. It was the only relief I could get and it only lasted a couple days and I would be back in the same pain I had before. I would see the therapist every 4 weeks for about 3 years.
One day my therapist suggested that I go see the chiropractor she had been seeing. She thought he could help. I honestly thought “Great, another chiropractor!” The first one I had tried really did nothing for me and I wasn’t so sure that there was anything anyone could do. Boy, was I surprised!!
I have been seeing Dr. Kramer for almost a year and what a difference a year can make! I rarely have any shoulder pain now. He has also taken care of some other things that I just thought were a part of life, like migraine headaches. I thought that since I am female and I’m of the age to still have menstrual cycles, I would just have to deal with the migraine that comes with it every month. I was wrong! I haven’t had a migraine headache since I started seeing Dr. Kramer. It’s great! Life is great without migraine headaches!
The path to all this wasn’t easy. There was Graston, kinesiology, pain, new vitamins to take, exercises and lots of wondering if I’m doing the right thing. I stayed steady to the course of treatment that Dr. Kramer thought would be the best for me, and I’m glad I did. A lot of the treatment isn’t fun, but he’s fixing problems, and in life problems aren’t fun either. I heard more than once from Dr. Kramer “It’s going to get worse before it gets better.”
Before seeing Dr. Kramer I couldn’t enjoy life like I should have been. There was too much pain. It was starting to affect me not only physically, but hobbies that I loved and my family suffered as well. I like to go bowling, garden in my flower garden & vegetable garden, make handmade greeting cards, and do yard work, but all of this was put to the wayside, or very limited since I injured my shoulder. I noticed that I would also be short with my family when I was in a lot of pain. They didn’t deserve to be treated that way when I was the one in pain.
Since seeing Dr. Kramer I have resumed all but bowling in my daily life. Bowling will have to wait until the kids are gone since the kids keep me pretty busy now. But I am enjoying life. It’s great to be outside, working and not worrying about how much pain I’m going to be in later that day or the upcoming days.
Dr. Kramer is a great chiropractor, and I refer him to everyone I know. I know that the people I have referred him to think the same thing I did, “Great, another chiropractor”, but I keep gently telling them he’s not like any other chiropractor. Dr. Kramer very knowledgeable, and genuinely cares and loves what he’s doing. He wants what is best for the patient. I’m so very thankful for my massage therapist that referred me to him, and for Dr. Kramer and the amazing work he has done & will do in the future.
